Two Privacy Acts,
in plain English

We will never sell your information to anyone — ever. Only a court order can open our records. One Act for kids, one for grown-ups, both written to be read.

Section One

The Kids & Young Rangers Privacy Act

Our promise to every parent and every Young Ranger.

  1. We never ask for a child’s email. Ever.

    No child will ever be asked for an email address, a screen name, or any way to contact them directly. There are no kids’ accounts on SilverScoreboard — period. The Young Rangers Club belongs to parents: a parent signs up, a parent manages it, and any club mail goes to the parent’s address, in the parent’s name.

  2. We never sell anyone’s information — and we mean anyone.

    We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your child’s information with anyone, for any price, for any reason. Ever. There are no advertisers lurking behind our pages and no data brokers in our pockets.

  3. Only a court order opens our records.

    Short of a lawful court order, nobody outside SilverScoreboard sees what’s in our house — not marketers, not “partners,” not anyone.

  4. If we ever reach a child directly, a parent is always in the room.

    We almost never reach out to families directly. The one rare case is contest winners. Even then:

    • We contact the parent first, through the contact information the parent gave us.
    • If a child will be part of the conversation — a birthday call from the radio voice, say — it happens on speaker, with a parent present and participating the whole time.
    • We never arrange anything with a child away from a parent’s eyes and ears.
  5. What we hold comes from parents — and parents control it.

    We collect no contact information from children — no email, no phone, no last name. The only details we hold come from a parent or grandparent on the enrollment form: the Ranger’s first name, age, and state, and the grown-up’s own name, email, and cell phone. The cell phone is optional, and it exists for one purpose only — a contest-winner call, made to the parent, with the parent on the line and the phone on speaker. A parent may ask us to show any of it or erase it at any time, and we will, promptly and completely.

  6. Kids’ pages stay kids’ pages.

    Our children’s materials — the Young Rangers Club and the booklets — carry no tracking, no targeted ads, and no sign-ups for children.

  7. This is a promise, not fine print.

    If we ever change this Act, we will change it only to protect kids more — never less — and the new version goes on this page in plain English.

Section Two

The Adults & Families Privacy Act

Our promise to every member, reader, and listener.

  1. We never sell your information to anyone. Ever.

    Not your email, not your name, not your listening habits, not your calculator entries. No sale, no rent, no trade, no “partners.” Your trust is the only asset we will never spend.

  2. Only a court order can access our data.

    Absent a lawful court order, the information you entrust to SilverScoreboard stays inside SilverScoreboard. That is the whole policy.

  3. Your calculator entries never leave your device.

    Everything you type into our calculators — coins, quantities, appraisals — is saved on your own phone or computer and nowhere else. It is never sent to us, never stored on our servers, and never seen by anyone but you.

  4. Your email gets only what you asked for.

    If you join free or subscribe, you receive the broadcasts and letters you chose — The Scoreboard, the Legacy Letter, the daily reports. Every message carries a way out, and honoring an unsubscribe is immediate and permanent.

  5. Members’ records are yours to control.

    You may ask us at any time to show you what we hold, correct it, or erase it completely. We will do so promptly and confirm it in writing.

  6. We guard the house.

    We keep reasonable, current safeguards around the member records we do hold, and we keep the list of people who can touch them as short as possible.

  7. Plain English, forever.

    This policy is written to be read, not to hide behind. If we ever amend it, the plain-English version stays on this page, and we will never weaken these promises.

Legal fine print & vendor details

The two Acts above are our binding promises. The notes below cover the operational details of running a website — processors, cookies, and record-keeping — and they are all subject to the Acts: nothing below permits selling data or opening records without a court order.

1. Best Commercial Efforts

We make best commercial efforts to protect the privacy and security of any personal information you provide. That said, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:

  • Your name and email address.
  • Account credentials and authentication-related information.
  • IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, referring pages, and approximate location derived from your IP address.
  • Information you voluntarily submit, such as comments, contact form messages, the KiDS Legacy Act petition (name, email, city, state, ZIP), or subscription preferences.
  • Basic transaction metadata, such as plan, subscription status, receipts, and payment confirmation details, but not payment card numbers.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to operate the site, maintain accounts, process subscriptions or payments, respond to messages, improve content, prevent abuse, troubleshoot technical issues, comply with legal obligations, and keep the site reasonably secure.

4. Authentication — Clerk

Account creation, login, and authentication features, when offered, are handled by Clerk (clerk.com). When you sign up or log in, your credentials and authentication data are managed by Clerk in accordance with their privacy policy and security practices. We do not store your password.

5. Payments — Stripe

Payment processing, when offered, is handled by Stripe (stripe.com). When you make a purchase, your payment information is submitted directly to those processors. We do not store, process, or have access to your credit card numbers, CVV codes, or payment card data on our systems.

6. Service Providers

We use a short list of reputable vendors to help operate the site — hosting, authentication (Clerk), payment processing (Stripe), and email delivery. Vendors are given only the information they need to perform their services for us, under contracts that forbid them from selling it. This is service, never sale.

7. Cookies and Analytics

The site may use cookies and similar technologies to improve functionality, remember preferences, operate login sessions, prevent fraud, and understand how visitors use the site. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling cookies may break some features.

8. Email and Communications

If you provide your email address, we may use it to send account-related notices, requested updates, subscription information, or replies to messages you sent us. You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails where an unsubscribe option is provided.

9. Legal Disclosure

We disclose your information only when required to do so by a valid court order, subpoena, or other binding legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or security of our members or the integrity of the site.

10. Children’s Privacy

SilverScoreboard is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Our broadcasts and emails are for grown-ups: free signups ask for your birth year (the year only — never your full birth date), and anyone under 18 is asked to have a parent or grandparent sign up instead. Children’s programming (the Young Rangers Club) is run entirely through parents, as described in the Kids & Young Rangers Privacy Act above. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact us so we can delete it.

11. Your Choices

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us. Some information may be retained for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, backup, or security reasons.

12. Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Server logs, security records, and backup copies may persist for a limited period.

13. No Sale of Personal Information — Absolute

We do not sell your personal information — to anyone, ever. This is a founding promise of SilverScoreboard, not a policy setting. It will not change.

14. International Processing

The site and its vendors may process information in the United States or other countries where service providers operate. By using the site, you understand that your information may be processed outside your state, province, or country.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date reflects the most recent version, and any change that affects our promises will strengthen them, never weaken them.
